I started out at A-Plan in April 2011 as a claims advisor within a small team of 4, including myself. At this time I had very little knowledge of accident, home and commercial claims. I was buddied up with an experienced claims advisor to show me the ropes.
Moving forwards, a lot of knowledge was down to on the job training, where I had a referral point with my training buddy whenever was required. Management were also very supportive of me reaching my potential and sent me on workshops to help increase my knowledge of the A-Plan products. After 3 years, I was promoted to Claims Manager and now run a team of 6 people.
A-Plan is an established broker with various offices around the country that came across as a very welcoming and supportive company to work for upon the interview stage. I was very impressed with the CII Qualification being a requirement that was funded by the company also.
I work in one of the larger A-Plan offices, based in Tooting which is generally very busy. The staff members are very positive with a friendly atmosphere running throughout the office and pride themselves on acting as part of a team to promote a ‘can-do’ attitude.
Since I started working for A-Plan I always felt like a valued member of staff where bigger prospects were within my reach. Whilst it was my responsibility to take ownership of my success I knew that my managers had faith in me to flourish and encouraged my ability to progress. Since becoming promoted to Claims Manager I have continued to excel with continuous support around me.
A-Plan has very traditional values in the sense that it prides themselves on outstanding customer service with policies that meet its client’s requirements, rather than selling cheap insurance policies that are not tailored. From a staff point of view it is very evidence that the A-Plan culture consists of promoting from within and gives the opportunity for long standing careers.
